Apple-shaped Body and Spring Typology

Apple-shaped body spring typology

Apple-shaped body, pear-shaped, body proportions and fruits?

First of all I want to state that I do love to call our bodies by fruit names, there is nothing offensive about it, au contraire! I think fruits are delicious and healthy just like our bodies, independently of their shape and natural color palette.

With that disclaimer, I continue my shapes and color journey today when I want to share with you an interchangeable wardrobe capsule I created for a lady with:

  • a spring typology (she has a golden blonde hair, blue-green eyes and peachy skin undertone) and
  • apple-shaped body (a curvy body with round shoulders, slightly wider than the lower hip, the high hip is wider than the lower hip, the waistline not so defined and with a full bust). She is also 1,75 with long amazing legs.

For her I created 40 interchangeable outfits only from 6 tops, 5 bottoms and 3 dresses.

Narratives

The lady I have prepared the wardrobe capsule is an artist so she does not require a conventional smart office look. Even when meeting with her clients in her atelier, she likes to embrace a more casual chic style. In addition, she embraces colors – even more than I do – and she is not afraid of trying on different patterns.

Natural Color Palette

I choose all the colors to match her natural color pallete – spring – so light warm grey, camel, light beige, orange, red orange, yellow-green, just to name a few of the nuances that make justice to a spring typology.

Body Proportions – Apple-shaped Body

My lady’s amazing legs means short skirts or dresses were my first advise for her and in general for the ladies with apple shape body. The length of the skirt (how high above the knee) depends on your preferences, of course.

Like most of the apple shape body – she has a full bust and her waist is not very well defined. So we draw the attention to her legs – with:

  • short skirt and dresses, either with a non-defined waistline (like the medium golden brown – cinnamon brown checkered short dress or yellow dress or short A-line skirt); the dresses with V neck will draw the attention to the bust and create a visual symmetry between the shoulders and low line of the hip.

  • straight cut pants -like the printed yellow ones and the lime-yellow ones, but also wide long cut like the artsy printed one (white, blue and camel); and

  • V-shape tops and deeper round neck tops to elongate the neck line – even if you choose a buttoned-up shirt (like the orang or grey one below), my advise is to wear it open creating that V-shape very flattering for you.
